‘Fear Effect Sedna’ Demo Now Available For PC

The free demo for the crowdfunded return of the Fear Effect saga is now live.

The long-lost Fear Effect saga lives once again courtesy of developer Sushee Games, the Square Enix Collective program, and over 2,500 Kickstarter contributors. Now reimagined as an isometric tactical action-puzzle game, Fear Effect Sedna finally brings the dormant series its third installment after 15 years- even if the crowdfunded title is set after the canceled Fear Effect: Inferno.

Despite the obvious shift in aesthetic, fans can still expect to find the classic puzzles and surreal atmosphere of the series, just with the addition of tactical-action and strategy-themed mechanics. Players control series veterans Hana, Rain, Glas, Deke, and newcomer Axel across Paris in search of a particular item of interest currently in the hands of the Chinese Ambassador. Though each character had his or her own particular strengths across Fear Effect and Fear Effect: Retro Helix, Fear Effect Sedna takes character traits one step further as skills are specific to each individual; Axel specializes in long-range firearms, Deke enjoys close-quarters combat, Glas excels in disabling traps, the tech-enthusiast Rain can hack nearby terminals, Hana can pickpocket enemies and avoid detection so long as her stress remains low.

Earlier today, the official Fear Effect Sedna demo went live on Steam, though be warned, the demo is fairly short, encompassing the first half-hour of the game. The system requirements are as follows:
