Blizzard is celebrating Overwatch‘s first anniversary with new maps, skins, emotes and more.
2016’s Overwatch was one of the year’s most well-received titles and best-selling shooters of the past year. Blizzard’s first attempt at a competitive-FPS spawned a massive following, leading to an official eSports “Overwatch League”, comic series, a handful of collectibles….and even a porn parody. Blizzard still continues to support the game’s thriving community with seasonal events, new Loot Box items, and the addition of new stages and characters- free of charge.
To celebrate the first anniversary of one of the most successful shooters of 2016, Blizzard is now holding the “Overwatch Anniversary Seasonal Event” across all versions of the game. As of yesterday morning, players now have a chance to score some of the 100 new items to be found in Loot Boxes, additional Legendary Skins, and pop culture-influenced dancing emotes for every Hero. Three new Arena maps have also been added to the map rotation- “Necropolis” (Egypt), “Castillo” (Mexico) and “Black Forest” (Germany).
Overwatch is available for PC, Xbox One and PS4. The Anniversary Seasonal Event will be held from 5/24-6/12 across all platforms.
