‘The Mummy Demastered’ Announced By Universal And WayForward

Shantae developer WayForward will bring Universal’s “The Mummy” to consoles this year, minus Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella.

2017’s “The Mummy” reboot isn’t receiving the highest praise from critics, but Universal hasn’t given up on its introduction into their new monster-movie “Dark Universe”. According to a new announcement from Universal, the studio intends to produce an anchored VR experience, a mobile game, and a new side-scrolling title from WayForward.

The Mummy Demastered will be WayForward’s contribution to Universal’s “The Mummy” projects, as confirmed by a single screenshot from the developer’s social media channels. Though WayForward’s announcement is brief- limited to just the screenshot and a title reveal- Universal states that The Mummy Demastered will be loosely based on the recent movie, with players exploring forests, military compounds, and “the sandstorm-filled streets of London” on their mission to defeat Princess Ahmanet and her army of undead soldiers.

The Mummy Demastered has been given a release window of late-August by Universal, and will be available for PC, Xbox One, PS4 and the Nintendo Switch.
