The enigmatic “New Colossus” has been revealed to be the third chapter of the rebooted Wolfenstein saga.
Watchful viewers of Bethesda’s E3 2016 presentation may have noticed an extra line in last year’s mock boot-sequence opening; beneath references to DOOM, Dishonored and Prey lie “The New Colossus”, with no references to the phrase during the rest of the show, nor throughout the remainder of the year. Last night at their E3 2017 showcase, Bethesda officially revealed the true identity of The New Colossus- the third Wolfenstein game from developer MachineGames.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus picks up in 1961 with Nazi forces now controlling the majority of America. Despite the successful assassination of Obergruppenführer Wilhelm “Deathshead” Strasse at the hands of protagonist BJ Blazkowicz, the technologically-advanced Nazi empire is still alive and well, under the control of a reconstructed Frau Irene Engel. Players must rally members of the American Resistance for a bloody fight across various locations in the US, including Roswell, New Orleans and post-war Manhattan.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will release for PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 10/27.
