The nefarious Risky Boots will finally be a playable character with her own story mode courtesy of future Half-Genie Hero DLC.
Developer WayForward is almost ready to release the first premium DLC for the crowdfunded fourth Shantae game, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. Series villain Risky Boots will be playable in the Shantae prequel title as a DLC character, courtesy of contributors funding one of the higher Stretch Goals. Titled “Pirate Queen’s Quest”, the additional content gives Risky Boots her own storyline where she must find the Dynamo pieces before Shantae, with character techniques inspired by the weapons used in Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse; the teaser trailer below shows Risky using her cannon, a new chain-whip, scimitar, parachute pirate hat and more.
The Pirate Queen’s Quest DLC has no official release date, but is expected to arrive between July and August for all platforms. Those who contributed to either the Kickstarter campaign or directly to WayForward as a Slacker Backer will receive the DLC for free once it goes live; a price has not been announced as of this time.
Shanate: Half-Genie Hero is available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS Vita and Wii U, with the Nintendo Switch version arriving this Summer.
