As the leaks foretold, the next Assassin’s Creed is heading to Egypt this October. What the leaks didn’t mention, there’s an $800 Collector’s Edition also available for pre-order.
To the assumed dismay of Ubisoft employees, the next Assassin’s Creed began showing up through a series of leaked advertisements, early website banner listings, a photograph of next month’s Game Informer magazine cover- even a few seconds of off-stage gameplay on a PC monitor. Despite the early reveal, the Assassin’s Creed franchise came out swinging at E3 2017 with the official announcement of Assassin’s Creed Origins.
Shown during both the Microsoft and Ubisoft conferences, Assassin’s Creed Origins follows the story of Bayek, the last magi and original creator of the Assassin’s Brotherhood. Players must hunt, track and assassinate various targets across the vast regions of Egypt, but with a slew of new tools at their disposal; gameplay mechanics have been refined for more fluid combat and dynamic counter-attack situations; Bayek has an eagle companion- Senu- acting as both a real-time playable scout and deployable weapon. Though it may come as a shock to some, the mini-map feature has been removed, forcing players to intently explore the lush cities and barren deserts of Egypt. Exploration will play a massive factor within Origins, with several catacombs, royal tombs and other resting chambers to discover, some of which house large beasts of lore.
A new active RPG system includes options to craft weapons and armor, raise Bayek’s Skill Level, and unlock various tiers of gameplay perks; each new level adds an extra visual perk to Bayek in-game, such as a new clothing insignia or Hidden Blade ornament.
Assassin’s Creed Origins will release for PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 10/27. Additional visual and performance enhancements will be available to those who play on a PS4 Pro or an Xbox One X.
For the extreme Assassin’s Creed fan with expendable income, Ubisoft is offering an Ubishop-exclusive Collector’s Edition. The “Dawn of the Creed Legendary Edition” includes Assassin’s Creed Origins – Gold Edition (Season Pass, Digital Deluxe Pack, additional mission), hand-drawn map of Egypt, scale replica of Bayek’s eagle-skull amulet, four lithographs, a Steelbook game case, physical soundtrack, and a 28.7″ statue of Bayek and Senu from Ubi Collectibles.
The “Assassin’s Creed Origins – Dawn of the Creed Legendary Edition “is available to pre-order for $800 across PC, Xbox One and PS4, however the PC version will ship with a digital game code and not a physical disc.
