The rise of Egypt is at the forefront of the new Assassin’s Creed Origins trailer.
Assassin’s Creed Origins was officially revealed as the next installment of Ubisoft’s award-winning saga during E3 2017. As the name would suggest, Origins sets players in the role of “the last Magi” Bayek in ancient Egypt; Bayek plays one of the most important roles in the lineage of Assassins, as his actions lead to the foundation of the Assassin’s Brotherhood. Origins is a potentially welcome departure from the gameplay tropes of the franchise; almost reminiscent of the gameplay shifts of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, players can no longer rely on a mini-map, but must instead utilize personal observation and Bayek’s own scouting eagle companion Senu; the combat system has also been refined for a much more fluid experience.
While today’s video may lack gameplay, the new cinematic trailer shown during Microsoft’s Gamescom 2017 presentation chronicles the rise of an empire, with historical figures Cleopatra and Ptolemy at the forefront of Ubisoft’s vision of ancient Egypt.
Assassin’s Creed Origins will release for PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 10/27.
