Arc System Works Releases 12 Minute ‘Guilty Gear Xrd’ Features Trailer

The release of Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- is rapidly approaching, and with so many new features, fans may find the new Fighter to be a little overwhelming. Fortunately, Arc System Works has things covered with a new 12 minute trailer.

It’s been quite a while since Guilty Gear fans have received a proper continuation of the series; with a few exceptions, the majority of recent titles have been updates to Guilty Gear XX #Reload. After years of waiting, the release of Guilty Gear Xrd is less than a month away. Built using Unreal Engine 3, Xrd emulates the classic hand-drawn style by using cel-shaded 3D character models on a 2D plane. As the next chapter of the saga falls after the events of Guilty Gear 2: Overture, several iconic characters will not be present for Xrd, unless they show up later as DLC.

Along with DLC characters and cross-platform multiplayer, several other features were recently unveiled, including a smartphone companion app for the PS4 version, 64-player lobbies, an online Training Mode, and in-game chat. Earlier today, publisher Arc System Works released a 12 minute trailer that expands on the previously announced features; unfortunately, the trailer is only available in Japanese:

A PS4-exclusive Guilty Gear Xrd fight pad is shown at the end of the trailer; Arc System Works has not revealed whether or not this will be a Japanese-exclusive product. Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- will release on 12/16 in North America. A Limited Edition version is also available, which contains an art book, soundtrack, key-chain and special “Backyard” themed case.
