‘Shantae And The Pirate’s Curse’ Wii U Trailer Now Available, May Release Later This Month

The Wii U release of Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse may be coming sooner than expected, but in the meantime, a new trailer should tide fans over until the official release.

Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is the third chapter of the Shantae series, created by WayForward and Matt Bozon. The trilogy follows the misadventures of half-genie Shantae as she protects the citizens of Scuttle Town from the nefarious pirate Risky Boots, and the bombastic cannon-loving Ammo Baron. The latest chapter features an unlikely team-up between Shantae and Risky Boots, as the two must stop the resurrection of the Pirate Master.

Back in June, developer WayForward announced that Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse would also receive a Wii U version, to be released through the Wii U eShop. The team has yet to announce an official release date, however according to the official WayForward Facebook page, the Wii U version is in the “final stage” of testing at Nintendo of America. If all goes well, the developers believe that “a 2014 release date looks possible”. A new trailer for the Wii U version was released earlier today:

WayForward is also  hinting that more Shantae news will be announced sometime later this week. The Kickstarter title Shantae: Half-Genie Hero can still be pre-ordered through PayPal until 12/16.
