Four ‘Mortal Kombat X’ Special Editions Revealed

Dedicated Mortal Kombat fans can get their hands on any of four special edition packages of their choosing, however there’s a slight catch, as each one is retailer- and platform-specific.

Mortal Kombat [9] released with a slew of pre-order bonuses, with the main attractions being character skins modeled after the original 2D games. While all of the DLC skins were eventually made available through PSN and XBLA, each skin could only be obtained by purchasing certain products from specific retailers; dedicated fans had to buy multiple copies of the game- and the two live-action films- from Wal-Mart, GameStop, Best Buy and Amazon in order to gain access to the complete list of pre-order DLC. As chaotic as this may have been, the silver lining was that a Collector’s Edition for Mortal Kombat [9] existed, and could be pre-ordered from any location.

Mortal Kombat X only has one stand-alone pre-order DLC bonus at this time (“Goro”), however four special edition versions have been revealed, with each one tied to a specific retailer and platform. Depending on where MK fans shop, their options include an exclusive DLC skin for Scorpion, extra characters, or a choice of two Scorpion statues. The following bundles are listed in order of price, from lowest to highest:
