‘Onechanbara Z2: Chaos’ Coming To NA This Summer

The most recent chapter of the bikini-zombie-slayer Onechanbara saga is coming to North America and Europe this summer.

Onechanbara began several years ago on the PS2 as a Japanese-exclusive “Simple Series” title from developer/publisher D3. The Simple Series consisted of numerous games developed on a small, fixed budget. and often contained any combination of minimalist story elements, gameplay, or visual design. Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad would be the first title to release in the US; the 360-exclusive hack-and-slash was later ported to the Wii as Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers. Both versions feature very basic gameplay mechanics, however if the player’s character kills too many undead, she will enter a berserk state; while the character’s strength is significantly increased, she will lose health until her eventual death.

Onechanbara Z Kagura released for the 360 back in 2012, with the updated PS3 release Onechanbara Z  Kagura: With NoNoNo! arriving the following year; both versions are currently Japanese-exclusive titles. Yesterday morning, publisher XSEED announced that the recent PS4 title Onechanbara Z2: Chaos will release in North America sometime this summer. The North American version will release through PSN, along with the physical “Banana Split” limited edition. The Banana Split package contains a physical soundtrack, art book featuring works from Z2: Chaos and Kagura, and the namesake controversial DLC costume (two strawberries and a banana).

Onechanbara Z2: Chaos will also release for European audiences under publisher NIS America. Official release dates have not been scheduled, however Onechanbara Z2: Chaos will release for the PS4 this summer. Yesterday morning, XSEED also revealed that Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson would release in the US later this year for the Nintendo 3DS.
