The iconic Street Fighter schoolgirl Sakura is getting a new statue from Kotobukiya, scheduled to release later this year.
Kotobukiya is one of Japan’s- if not the world’s- most popular collectible manufacturers. While Kotobukiya creates a wide variety of detailed statues featuring comic book characters, film heroes and video game icons, the company is most-noted for their “Bishoujo” line of collectibles. As the Bishoujo statues suggest, the term itself relates to the “beautiful young girl” style of Japanese manga and anime art. Women within this style of artwork are often characterized by larger eyes, softer features, and a typically exaggerated hourglass figure or large bust. Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo series includes the likes of Cammy, Chun-Li, Psylocke, Freddy Kreuger and Jason Vorhees.
Earlier today, pre-orders opened for another upcoming Bishoujo statue- Street Fighter‘s own Sakura. The Sakura statue features the classic fighter in mid-Shouoken, wearing her signature schoolgirl outfit. Each unit is formed from PVC and ABS, and measures 240mm/9.45″ tall.
The Kotobukiya Bishoujo Sakura statue can be pre-ordered for $76.99, and is currently scheduled to release on 8/31.
