‘Shantae And The Pirate’s Curse’ Coming To PC This Week

PC owners can set sail with Shantae and Risky Boots, as their latest adventure is sailing from the 3DS eShop over to Steam later this week.

The third chapter of the Shantae saga originally debuted as an exclusive Nintendo 3DS title, but was later ported to the Wii U with improved controls and high-definition character artwork. After Nintendo’s New 3DS XL hit North American shelves, the title was updated to support the improved button layout. Earlier today, developer WayForward announced that Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse would come to PCs via Steam; what may come as a surprise to Shantae fans, Pirate’s Curse will release this Friday, April 24.

Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is the third and currently final part of WayForward’s main Shantae trilogy. After the closing events of Shantae: Risky’s Revenge, the titular half-genie is stripped of her magic, and has been slowly adjusting to life as a normal human. An extended period of peace within Scuttle Town is broken when Shantae’s pirate nemesis Risky Boots shows up, informing Shantae of the Pirate Master’s imminent return. The two form an unlikely duo to prevent the return of Risky’s deceased master, and reclaim Shantae’s lost magic.

Again, Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse will release for PC via Steam on 4/24. The crowdfunded prequel title Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is currently in development for various platforms, and is expected to release late this year.
