Potential ‘Dead Or Alive Xtreme 3’ Roster Revealed

The voting process is only halfway through, however DOA fans can get an idea of who to expect in the next beach-themed spin-off.

Team Ninja Director Yosuke Hayashi previously announced that Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 was in-development exclusively for Japanese and Asian audiences. During the DOA Festival presentation and subsequent interviews last month, it was revealed that DOAX3 would use an updated version of the Soft Engine, capable of rendering real-time tanning and other skin-based effects. While the possible mini-games have not been announced, Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 will still include a “Camera Mode”, several beach activities and sports events. A previous interview between Hayashi and Famitsu revealed that the single-player experience will be focused on the player connecting with his or her chosen character, compared to the event-to-event sequencing of DOAX2.

Team Ninja and DOA publisher Koei Tecmo began holding a poll for characters to be featured in DOAX3. A series of character-specific PS4/PS Vita themes were released on the Japanese PSN store; every purchased theme counts as a vote towards the characters to be included in the DOAX3 roster. Dead or Alive 5: Last Round features a roster of 30 playable characters, though only 15 women are represented in the poll, with only 9 making the final cut. The image below shows the mid-poll standings for each character- this will not be the final standings, as the character-poll is still open:

DOAX3 Mid-Poll Roster Results

  1. Marie Rose: 17.1%
  2. Honoka: 14.8%
  3. Kasumi: 11.5%
  4. Ayane: 9.2%
  5. Kokoro: 8.3%
  6. Nyotengu: 7.2%
  7. Hitomi: 6.4%
  8. Momiji: 4.9%
  9. Lei Fang: 4.6%
  10. Helena: 4.2%
  11. Tina: 3.9%
  12. Mila: 3.0%
  13. Rachel: 1.7%
  14. Lisa: 1.7%
  15. Christie: 1.7%

Again, only the top 9 characters will be included in the final playable roster for Dead or Alive Xtreme 3; as it stands, Helena, Tina, Mila, Rachel, Lisa and Christie may not be available in the final build.

A release date has not been scheduled, however Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 will be exclusive to the PS4 and PS Vita, with footage debuting at TGS 2015. A North American release has not been finalized, but may be possible if Koei Tecmo sees an outstanding demand for the title in the West.
