Both the console and handheld versions of the beach sports DOA spin-off are getting Collector’s Editions at launch.
The beach-themed Dead or Alive Xtreme [Beach Volleyball] series returns next February, exclusively for Sony consoles. Xtreme 3 features nine of the most popular female characters based on the results of a Japanese-only poll, going head-to-head in various summer sports and activities. Debuting in the next-gen versions of Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, Xtreme 3 is under development with an updated version of Team Ninja’s Soft Engine, allowing for realistic skin texture, real-time shading and sun-exposure (i.e. tanning and sunburn).
Both the console and versions are getting Collector’s Editions as confirmed last month, though DOA fans can now see just what is included within each bundle. Both versions will include playing cards, a mousepad and an art book, however the content varies between the PS4 and PS Vita editions; the PS4 Collector’s Edition cards are backed with Ayane, Hitomi, Momiji, Helena and Marie Rose, with the mousepad featuring Marie Rose; the PS Vita version includes cards featuring Honoka,, Kasumi, Kokoro and Nyotengu, with a Honoka 3D “wrist support” mousepad. The contents of the included 48-page “Gravure Photo Book” also differ between versions. Extreme fans also have the option of purchasing the $300 “Ultimate Package” bundle, which includes both Collector’s Editions and nine additional “B2 Xtreme Bath Posters”.
Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Fortune (PS4) and Venus (PS Vita) will release in Japan on 2/25; both Collector’s Editions can be pre-ordered for $139.99 (PS4) and $129.99 (PS Vita), with the Ultimate Package listed for $299.99.
While Team Ninja previously stated that Xtreme 3 will be exclusive to Eastern audiences, both versions will include English subtitles.
