The red saber-wielding mentor to X, First 4 Figures is giving Zero his very own collectible statue, planned for a Fall 2016 release.
While newer gamers may recognize him from the likes of Marvel VS Capcom 3 and Tatsunoku VS Capcom, or at the very least his armor from Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS, Zero made his first appearance in 1993 with the SNES release of Mega Man X. Despite the flaw of getting himself destroyed on multiple occasions, Zero acts as a mentor to X; an underlying theme in the first X title, one of X’s motivations for finding Dr. Light’s hidden Armor Capsules and defeating all of the Maverick reploids, is to one day become as strong as Zero, and defeat Vile on his own terms. Later installments of the X saga reveal that Zero was Dr. Wily’s final creation before his passing, and was created as the ultimate successor to Bass and a rival to Dr. Light’s final creation, X. Apart from numerous cameos in fighting games and Strategy/Tactical RPG’s, Zero was also featured in the Mega Man Zero series for the Game Boy Advance.
Following their first Mega Man X collectible statue, First 4 Figures recently announced that Zero would be the next item in the Mega Man X collectible series. With his long orange hair pluming out the back of his helmet and Z-Saber held overhead, the 1/5 scale “Zero” statue stands at 17″ tall, and is crafted from polystone resin. Each hand-painted statue includes an interchangeable Z-Buster for Zero’s right forearm. As with all First 4 collectibles, each statue is hand-numbered and presented with a certificate of authenticity, allowing the purchaser to obtain the next statue in the same series with the same number; someone with “X statue #138” has the option of specifically purchasing “Zero statue #138”.
An Exclusive edition is also available to pre-order, featuring LED accents in the base, chest armor, helmet, Z-Saber and Z-Buster.
The Mega Man X Zero statue can be pre-ordered from First 4 Figures for $259.99, with an initial down-payment of $20; the Exclusive version is listed for $299.99. First 4 has yet to state how many Exclusive statues will be crafted, however the standard edition will be limited to 1,000 units worldwide. Both statues are expected to arrive in Q3 2016.
