EA is establishing a new program dedicated to funding independent projects, starting with Fe from Zoink Games.
Presented by EA’s EVP Patrick Soderlund, EA is creating a new program exclusively for independent developers- EA Originals. The new program is designed to aide Indie developers with the funding, marketing and final publishing process of game development. While other Indie programs may take a cut from the final sales, all profits post-launch will return back to developers under EA Originals.
The first studio to be featured under EA Originals is Zoink Games from Sweden. Their new title Fe received its first gameplay trailer during the EA Play conference at E3 2016. Players will control a young bear cub in a heavily stylized forest; the story and gameplay are heavily directed through music, as Fe will have absolutely no dialogue. Everything- even inanimate objects such as plants- will emit its own original sound; it’s up to the player to restore music to the forest, and save it from the “Corrupted Ones” bent on spreading silence through the world.
A release window was not given for Fe.
