“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” Returns To Consoles This January

Jason, Kimberly, Billy, Zack, Trini and Tommy don the Ranger suits again for a new 2D Beat-Em-Up for Xbox One and PS4 next year.

A gritty adaptation of Saban’s “teenagers with attitude” is hitting the silver screen next year, however the original six- including the Green Ranger- are heading to the Xbox One and PS4 in January 2017. First teased in late-August thanks to a European PS4 PEGI listing, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle was officially revealed earlier today at New York Comic-Con. The new title depicts the Rangers in a heavily stylized 2D super-deformed- or “Chibi”- take on the classic Saban North American series, with the Rangers still battling against the husband-and-wife duo of Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd.

Shown in the debut gameplay trailer below from publisher Bandai Namco, Mega Battle is a side-scrolling Beat-Em-Up/Fighter hybrid for up to 4-players, with the original six Rangers and the Megazord all being playable options.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle will release for the Xbox One and PS4 in January 2017. Developer Bamtang is also responsible for several browser game adaptations of popular cartoons including The Secret Saturdays, Regular Show and Adventure Time.
