Reggie Fils-Aime and an ecstatic Jimmy Fallon took Super Mario Run and the Nintendo Switch for a spin in last night’s episode of The Tonight Show.
The eccentric host of The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon was joined by Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime last night to present a live demo of Super Mario Run for iOS devices. Cheered on by Shigeru Miyamoto and Bill Trinen in the audience, Fallon and Reggie played through the first stages of the upcoming Mario infinite-runner on an iPhone. While the full game will not be available until next week, Reggie announced that Apple stores around the world will have playable in-store demos of the game starting today.
To show appreciation for Jimmy Fallon’s legendary love of gaming, Reggie surprised the host of The Tonight Show with a Nintendo Switch, appropriately hidden under a Question Mark Block. No new details were given, however the two took The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for a brief test-drive on the stage. After a short presentation of the world and a choice-driven gameplay segment, an ecstatic Fallon tried Breath of the Wild running in real-time on the tablet.
Nintendo will unveil the official release date, system specifications, launch titles and price through a special Nintendo Direct on 1/20. Super Mario Run will release for iOS devices on 12/15.
