The chameleon-and-bird duo are trying their hands at Rextro’s multiplayer arcade in the latest trailer for Yooka-Laylee.
From studio Playtonic Games, Yooka-Laylee is an upcoming spiritual-successor to the iconic Nintendo 64 Banjo-Kazooie games; Playtonic themselves are composed of former Rare developers who have previously worked on the Banjo-Kazooie titles, Kameo: Elements of Power, the Donkey Kong Country trilogy and other Rare classics. The studio took to Kickstarter in hopes of funding the game; fans responded by instantaneously funding Yooka-Laylee, contributing over $1.6 million in just 24 hours.
Though fans and Kickstarter contributors may have to wait a few more months before getting their hands on the game, Playtonic released a new trailer showcasing Yooka-Laylee‘s multiplayer mode. Players can compete in various genre-blending multiplayer mini-games found in “Rextro’s Arcade”, including “Blag the Flag”, “Kartos Racing” and the “Jobstacle Course”.
Yooka-Laylee will release for PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 4/11. The Wii U version has since been canceled, however the Nintendo version will live on as a future Nintendo Switch game; an official release date for the Switch version has not been announced.
