Bandai Namco’s teased Gothic action-RPG finally comes to life in the debut trailer for Code Vein.
First teased last month, Code Vein is an upcoming action-RPG from developer/publisher Bandai Namco. Details are still kept to a minimum, but the title sets players into the role of a Revenant, a vampiric warrior tasked with protecting the organization Vein from monstrous demons known as “the Lost”; these titanic deities are former Revenants who now feed on the memories of the living, rather than blood. The protagonist can be customized however the player sees fit, though combat will primarily be limited to melee-based weapons; players can also recruit a secondary Revenant to act as a “Buddy” when exploring dungeons. The debut trailer spends most of its time establishing the Gothic environments of Code Vein, but viewers can still catch glimpses of basic combat and the Revenants’ special “Gift” abilities.
Code Vein is scheduled to release next year for “major consoles”; more details are expected to arrive at E3 2017 next month.
