Fatal Fury‘s iconic Terry Bogard brings his- er, her- signature moves to the 2-on-2 action of SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy this September.
Famed arcade savior SNK will be one of the first non-Indie developers to bring the Fighter genre to the Nintendo Switch, however it won’t be their long-running King of Fighters saga, but a brand new game within the SNK cross-over universe, SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy.
Developed exclusively for the Nintendo Switch and PS4, Tag Team Frenzy deviates from SNK’s other Fighters with an all-female cast and a unique twist on 2-on-2 tag-team matches. SNK’s past fighting games are notorious for having complex button-combinations and inputs, however SNK: Heroines Tag Team Frenzy hopes to appeal to a broader audience courtesy of a simplified control scheme; short combos and Special Attacks can be executed with a single button. Rather than opt for the traditional 3-on-3 elimination style of combat from The King of Fighters, players choose two characters for battle, but the inactive character acts as a “Support”, enabling the player to collect and use items found in the stage. Where other tag-team Fighters feature health-bars for each individual character, Tag Team Frenzy‘s teams only have one shared health-bar: Each character possess a “Spirit Gauge” that depicts the attack power and Special Attack options at any given moment; the gauge depletes over time, but may be recharged by switching between characters. Tag Team Frenzy also continues SNK’s recent trend of allowing character-customization, as players can select and customize multiple costumes for every character.
Earlier this week, SNK revealed the latest combatant for SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy– Terry Bogard. Of course being an all-female Fighter, Terry had to go through some changes before making his surprise appearance; according to “her” official bio, Fatal Fury‘s iconic American hero is stuck in the body of woman “as a result of some prank by someone else”, but he still retains all of his original fighting techniques. The “Fatal Cutie” and her techniques are on full-display in the latest gameplay trailer below:
SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy will release for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch on 9/7. NISA and SNK are both offering an exclusive “Diamond Dream Edition” collector’s edition through their online stores; for $119.99, fans will receive the base game, Terry Bogard’s “Fatal Cutie” cap, hardcover art book, physical 2-CD soundtrack, set of 14 character pins, a 12″x 42″ towel, and a sleeveless SNK tank top (pictured Size-Large).
