‘Project X Zone 2’ Gets New Trailers, More Screenshots Released

The latest batch of Project X Zone 2 content highlights more new and returning characters, along with the brand new “Mirage Cancel” mechanic.

Capcom, Sega, Bandai Namco and Monolith Soft are teaming up once again to continue their cross-over series Project X Zone. Including characters from more than 25 franchises, Project X Zone‘s gameplay is inspired by the Fighting genre and “juggling” mechanics, combined with the tactical team and character-management of strategy games.

Earlier this year, developer Monolith Soft announced Project X Zone 2 (subtitled “Brave New World” in Japan), a direct sequel to the 2013 3DS exclusive. The next chapter of the series promises an even larger cast, as proven with the reveals of several new characters and represented properties; Shinobi, Strider, Soul Calibur, Ace Attorney, God Eater 2 and Yakuza are among the many new franchises highlighted within Project X Zone 2.

Bandai Namco recently released two new videos for Project X Zone 2, highlighting even more new characters in action, and new gameplay mechanics debuting in the sequel. Players will have the ability to activate a “Mirage Cancel” during the battle phase of each stage. This new tactic will slow time enough for players to land a more precise “Critical Hit”, however the new offensive ability comes with a price; if the player misses an opportunity to land a Critical Hit during a Mirage Cancel, the characters’ overall damage will decrease, along with their XP. Powerful attacks performed when an enemy is in the stunned “Cross” state have a chance at becoming a “Cross Break”, resulting in even more damage.

A European trailer was also released including English translations of the opening text:

As seen in the Japanese trailer, Project X Zone 2 is scheduled for release on 11/12. North American and European release dates have not been announced as of this time, however the EU version has been delayed into early 2016.
