[NSFW] ‘Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni’ Opening Revealed, Creator Announcing New Project

The opening cinematic to Kenichiro Takaki’s latest project has been revealed, along with a hint at yet another new title.

From the Producer of the Senran Kagura franchise and Lead Developer of the Vocaloid spin-off IA/VT Colorful. Kenichiro Takaki’s Valkyrie Drive is a three-part cross-media project scheduled to begin releasing this Winter. Centered around a pandemic that transforms young women into over-sized weaponry, Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni and Valkyrie Drive: Siren are the video game components to the future companion anime Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid.

Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni will be a PS Vita-exclusive title with gameplay reminiscent of the console and Vita Senran Kagura games, with fast-paced third-person combat; an official gameplay trailer has not been released, however a variety of screenshots have been released from developer Marvelous Entertainment. Yesterday morning, Marvelous released a new trailer, highlighting Bhikkhuni‘s opening cinematic:

Takaki hinted at yet another new project through his Twitter feed, with the intent of revealing it sometime this month. While the Tweets are in Japanese, loose translations reveal that Takaki is aware of the relatively low sales regarding the Senran Kagura franchise. and potentially the Valkyrie Drive project; rather than let the financial statistics affect his approach, Takaki wishes to use his time to learn and develop new concepts. The new project expected to be revealed later this month is apparently one that has been on Takaki’s table for the past few years.

Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni will release for the PS Vita on 12/10 in Japan, however localized versions have not been confirmed. A specific date has not been given, but Kenichiro Takaki’s new project is expected to surface in the coming weeks.
