‘Uppers’ Gameplay Screenshots Revealed

The first batch of Uppers gameplay screenshots have been released courtesy of Famitsu.

From the creator of the Senran Kagura and Valkyrie Profile franchises comes Uppers, a brand new high-octane beat-em-up for the PS Vita. The main deviation from Takaki’s previous works is that Uppers features a primarily male cast of characters; several men are sent to an island to battle against each other for the purposes of mass entertainment. Players control “Ranma Kamishiro”, a young man with zero fighting experience, but incredible physical strength passed down through his family lineage.

Japanese gaming outlet Famitsu recently unveiled the first batch of Uppers gameplay screenshots, along with a few more details regarding the mechanics and development background. The Vita-exclusive title will be developed by Bullets, the team behind Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble for the PSP. As previously mentioned, the development team also features the talents of Writer Yukinori Kitajima, and SNK’s famed Illustrator “Hiroaki”. Enemy encounters will be frantic fights “without rules”; not only can Ranma dish out damage with his fists, but he can use the environment to his advantage for extra damage, finding weapons, or area-specific finishing moves akin to MadWorld, though much less violent. If a group of girls are present, Ranma can flirt with them to gain an additional damage boost.

A North American date has not been scheduled, however the PS Vita-exclusive Uppers is currently expected to release in Spring 2016 for Japan.
