‘DOA Xtreme 3’ Gets Debut Trailer, Screenshots, Release Date

With the fan-voted roster now complete and the new Soft Engine in place, Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo are finally ready to show off Dead or Alive Xtreme 3.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 is the third installment of the DOA beach-sports spin-off series. Debuting as Dead or Alive: Xtreme Beach Volleyball on the original Xbox, the series expanded with the 360-exclusive DOA Xtreme 2, featuring jet-ski slalom racing, inner-tube racing, and other one-on-one competitive activities. Team Ninja revealed that a third Xtreme game was in development during the first annual DOA Festival earlier this year.

First used with the next-gen versions of Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, Xtreme 3 will use an upgraded “2.0” version of the Soft Engine, Team Ninja’s in-house graphical engine enabling realistic skin textures, lighting and not-quite-realistic physics. Not only will DOAX3 be the first next-gen Xtreme title, but the game will also be the first Sony-exclusive title in the spin-off series, with DOAX3 Venus releasing for the PS Vita, and DOAX3 Fortune coming to the PS4.

Earlier this week, Koei Tecmo released a new batch of media content, including a debut gameplay trailer and several screenshots highlighting the fan-voted cast of nine DOA5 characters. The title was previously expected to release in early 2016, however a concrete release date has now been assigned for next February:

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 will release exclusively for Japan on 2/25 for the PS4 and PS Vita.
