The crowdfunded Shantae game appeared at E3 2016 with a brand new gameplay trailer.
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is the product of a successful Kickstarter campaign hosted by WayForward in 2013. The fourth title of their previously Nintendo-exclusive series, Half-Genie Hero is a franchise prequel starring Shantae right after she’s come to terms with being a half-genie. This is the first title in the Shantae saga to feature 3D visuals; as with WayForward’s DuckTales Remastered, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero features 2D characters against fully 3D environments. Though the gameplay feature wasn’t present in Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse due to story reasons, players can once again solve puzzles and defeat enemies using Shantae’s ability to transform into various animals.
WayForward released a new Shantae: Half-Genie Hero trailer for E3 2016, highlighting each of Shantae’s transformations, massive character encounters, and a battle against Risky Boots and her Tinkerbat crew.
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero will release for 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, PS Vita, Wii U and PC on 9/27. Physical “Risky Beats Edition” copies include a 20-song soundtrack.
