The latest Overwatch heroine Sombra is now accessible via the separate PC-exclusive Public Test Realm.
Following a confusing string of community-driven speculations and an Overwatch ARG of sorts, Sombra was finally revealed this past weekend at BlizzCon 2016. The long-awaited character was revealed to be an elite hacker of the TalonĀ terrorist organization, equipped with an array of electrical attacks and her own personal teleporter. According to Blizzard’s own official description of the character, Sombra’s primary weapon is a short-ranged Machine Pistol; her three abilities include the ability-disabling “Hack”, a temporary “Thermoptic Camo”, and a mobile “Translocator” beacon allowing Sombra to warp out of dicey situations. “EMP” takes the spot of her Ultimate ability, giving Sombra the power to discharge all enemy shields and barriers within the EMP radius; enemy players within the blast radius are also Hacked.
Blizzard is already in the process of balancing Sombra before her official debut, however PC gamers can access the new Overwatch character within the “Overwatch PTR”. The “Public Test Realm” can be accessed from the main Battle.net desktop client within Overwatch‘s “Servers” tab; it’s worth noting that the PTR is an entirely separate download, akin to an ongoing open-beta.
Overwatch is available for PC, PS4 and the Xbox One.
