‘Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite’ Release Date, Collector’s Edition Announced

Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite sees villains bringing a new age of inter-dimensional chaos this Fall.

Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite was revealed last December as the next installment of Capcom’s iconic cross-over fighting game series. Though not a “numbered” continuation of the saga, the fourth title returns to the 2-on-2 action and gem-based combat of the original 1998 Marvel VS Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes (later “MVC Origins”) and Marvel Super Heroes of 1995. Neither Marvel nor Capcom have yet to confirm fan suspicions, but the presence of the Infinity Stones suggests Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite will see the heroes of Capcom’s archives squaring-off against a rogues gallery of heroes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Capcom released the third trailer for Infinite this morning, highlighting the story behind the fourth clash of gaming and comic icons: An unfortunate twist of fate leaves the Infinity Stones in the hands of Ultron (Marvel) and Sigma (Capcom, Mega Man X series); the two fuse together to form “Ultron Sigma”, a powerful new villain bent on casting a new shadow of evil across dimensions. The trailer also confirms the presence of eight additional characters, with the current roster listed as follows:

Marvel:

  • Iron Man
  • Captain Marvel
  • Captain America
  • Ultron
  • Thor
  • Hulk
  • Hawkeye
  • Rocket Raccoon

Capcom:

  • [Mega Man] X
  • Ryu
  • Morrigan
  • Sigma
  • Strider Hiryu
  • Chris Redfield
  • Chun-Li

Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite will release for PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 9/19. A Collector’s Edition is also available for pre-order, though limited to the console versions; this  $199.99 variant includes statues of Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Chun-Li and X, six Infinity Stone replicas, a Steelbook case and the Deluxe Edition of the game.
