Hideo Kojima Reveals New Play Arts Kai “Quiet” Figurine

A Play Arts Kai “Punished Snake” figurine has already been revealed, and is scheduled to release this Spring, but Hideo Kojima surprised fans last night with some tweets that revealed another MGSV character-turned-figurine- “Quiet”.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain both aim to be very “mature” titles that will push the boundaries of acceptable video game content; while The Phantom Pain‘s “Red Band Trailer” contains some unsettling and graphic content, the main object of controversy was none other than “Quiet”, the silent sniper from the second-half of the MGSV saga. Quiet’s “erotic” redesign raised very questionable concerns regarding her potential portrayal, as well as the portrayal of other women within the title.

Fortunately, those concerns have since died off; thank goodness, because Quiet will be featured in Square Enix’s Play Arts Kai line of collectible figurines- with that very same outfit. Last night, Hideo Kojima tweeted photos of the in-progress figurine, showcasing the amount of detail currently within her face and uniform:

It’s worth noting that Quiet is shown with some sort of actively-changing face-paint within the [NSFW] trailer for The Phantom Pain; as the figure shown above is just an in-progress prototype, the final product may feature an interchangeable head, or just include her paint as a standard.

While little is known about the character, Kojima also tweeted a picture of several “Skull Face” prototype heads, hinting at a third figure for the Metal Gear Solid V Play Arts Kai series:

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will release on Mar. 14 for 360, PS3, Xbox One and PS4; Sony platforms will receive the “Deja Vu Mission” featuring “PS1 Snake”, while Microsoft versions will feature the “Jamais Vu Mission” with “MGR Raiden”.

Due to the scale of The Phantom Pain, the second-half of MGSV will release sometime later, as no release date has been announced.
