Almost a full year ago, Hideo Kojima tweeted photos of some in-progress Play Arts Kai figures for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain; last week, photos of the completed figures surfaced on Facebook.
Square Enix’s “Play Arts Kai” line of figures are some of the most detailed character figurines in the market. While most products in the series are video game related, the Play Arts Kai line also features highly detailed figures of movie icons, comic book heroes and even TV stars.
Back in January of this year, Hideo Kojima released a handful of in-progress photos for an upcoming line of Metal Gear Solid V figures. The released photos included a fully-colored figurine of The Phantom Pain‘s enigmatic sniper Quiet (whose design has since been slightly altered) and a series of unpainted Skull Face heads. Last week, Play Arts Kai Director Hidemi Matsuzuka released more screenshots of the upcoming figures, including the complete Skull Face figure. Currently, only three figures will be available, featuring “Venom Snake”, Quiet and Skull Face:
Venom Snake is available for purchase ($109.99), while Skull Face is currently available for pre-order ($97.99), and will release in February 2015. A release window has not been scheduled for the Quiet figure. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is scheduled to release for PC, 360, PS3, Xbox One and PS4 sometime in 2015.
