Two new Play Arts Kai “Venom Snake” collectible variant figures have been revealed, and are scheduled for release later this year.
The release of the larger second-half of Metal Gear Solid V may still be a few months away, but Square Enix is continuing to build excitement for The Phantom Pain with a handful of collectible Play Arts Kai figures. Venom Snake, Quiet and Skull Face have all been immortalized as collectibles, with Snake and Skull Face already available for purchase; Quiet is available for pre-order, and is expected to release this May.
Yesterday morning, Konami and Square Enix revealed two new variants of the Venom Snake figure, due to release later this year. A “Splitter” version will be available to pre-order through various retailers, while the “Gold Tiger” variant will only be available exclusively through the Japanese Amazon.com store. Both figures are modeled after the previously released Play Arts Kai Venom Snake figure. but with alternate color schemes:
The Amazon-exclusive Gold Tiger Venom Snake will release in July, and is currently listed at 24,500y ($203.65); the Splitter variant is not yet available to pre-order, but is expected to release this May for 9,800y ($81.47).
