Senran Kagura fans have more than just a localized 3DS game to look forward to, as the creator’s new project is scheduled to release this December.
From Senran Kagura franchise creator Kenichiro Takaki comes Valkyrie Drive, a brand new IP making its Japanese debut later this year. Distancing itself from Takaki’s ninja-schoolgirl universe, his new project involves young women isolated across a series of islands after a viral outbreak transforms infected hosts into over-sized weapons. Those inhabiting the island of Bhikkhuni have found only one way to subdue the effects of the viral outbreak- through combat. The cross-media project includes the PS Vita title Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni, social game Valkyrie Drive: Siren, and companion anime series Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid.
The PS Vita title, Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni was recently given an official release date of Dec. 10 in Japan. A special “Nyuu Nyuu DX Pack” will be available for pre-order/purchase at 8,480y (roughly $68), containing an art book, original soundtrack and dialogue “drama CD”. As with other recent Japanese releases, Bhikkhuni will have additional “first print” content; the “Paradise Swimsuit” DLC will be printed on a card within first-print copies, granting access to additional island-themed swimsuits:
Aside from the featured characters, no further information has been revealed regarding the social game Valkyrie Drive: Siren, however the partner-anime Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid recently received a new trailer:
Again, Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni will release for the PS Vita on 12/10 in Japan; localized versions have not been announced as of this time.
