The first expansion to 2014’s Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, -REVELATOR- hits Japanese arcades in just two weeks, complete with another returning character.
Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- was announced earlier this year as the first expansion to Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-. Exclusive to Japanese arcades and Sony consoles, -SIGN- was the first game in the core Guilty Gear series to favor 3D models over 2D sprites. Despite the original version only featuring a roster of 17 characters- with three being DLC (Sin can alternatively be unlocked through gameplay)- Xrd -REVELATOR- was originally announced to add two more characters to the bombastic cast. The sword-wielding captain of the Jellyfish Pirates, Johnny will return for the expansion, along with Jack-O, a brand new character passively mentioned in the companion manga as a servant of That Man.
During the Arc Revolution Cup 2015 tournament, developer/publisher Arc System Works revealed not just the arcade version release date, but yet another new character for -REVELATOR-. The talented chef and restaraunt owner Jam Kuradoberi joins Johnny and Jack-O as the third new playable character. Jam’s redesigned character artwork can be seen below:
The intro movie was also revealed during ARC 2015, featuring new music from series creator Daisuke Ishiwatari, a brief look at the character Raven, and Elphelt’s new costume. While a console release date has not been announced, Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- is coming to Japanese arcades on 8/25.
